Drill and fill
Drill holes 2-3 cm deep and space holes at around 5-7 cm apart around base of trunk. Fill the hole immediately with undiluted glyphosate product. This technique can be utilised on trees greater than 45 mm in diameter. It is best to undertake this procedure in the active growing seasons of spring and autumn.
Ring Barking or Frill and Fill
Using a saw cut the trunk of the pittosporum and apply chemical on the exposed area. Chainsaw cuts can be applied to trees that have been cut and painted to allow greater absorbtion of chemical.
Cut and paint
using a saw or loppers, cut the sapling as close to ground level as possible. Immediately paint the stump with glyphosate to discourage re-growth. This technique should be deployed on plants that are between the 'hand pull' stage and 'drill and fill' stage.
Remove by hand
this method can be deployed on any plant small enough to remove safely. As a rule , most plants below adult waist height can be pulled out by hand. Ensure roots are completely removed.
