StopPitt is in full swing! Round 2 of our project is currently underway – with significant control works on public and private land. A groundswell of community support has increased our membership and will enable Pittosporum work to be undertaken across the Dandenong Ranges.
WHATS HAPPENING?
Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA)
A Californian conservation crew worked on pittosporum control in Bobs park, Menzies Creek and removed 15,216 plants. This work is the first stage of what will be a ongoing partnership between StopPitt and the CVA. There will be regular visits by these volunteers to work on areas of public and private land until April 2017. The crew battled through consistent rain and drizzle and took home some fond memories of working in Australian bushland!
Temple Road/Locks Way
A significant project on private properties is proposed for late October and November. This will involve large scale pittosporum removal and control on 15 properties with support from Monash University Volunteers, CVA and community. D-Day is November the 28th when we hope to complete the last project works in this area.
